JOB TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS PROGRAMMER/ANALYST
REPORTS TO: INFORMATION SERVICES MANAGER
SUMMARY DESCRIPTION OF JOB
Develop, coordinate and support data communications systems
involving inter-departmental and remote access hardware and
software applications. Responsible for maintaining and securing
customer-driven on-line systems through the development of
scripts, macros, programs, file transfers and conversions,
supporting internal and outside E-Mail, remote LAN access and
bulletin board systems, also implementing peer-to-peer and
workgroup connectivity solutions.
PRIMARY PURPOSE OF JOB:
To provide and maintain superior development, security and
leading edge technical expertise in the areas of on-line systems
and data communications, ensuring maximum utilization of these
strategic, mission-critical information resources for the
continuing success of CMD Services, Inc.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF JOB:
Develop MCI Mail scripts and communications software to
integrate electronic order entry with the CMD Services
accounting and production systems. Use Lotus Express, CC:Mail
and QModem Pro to provide user support for correspondence and
file transfers.
Troubleshoot problems regarding connection to Novell Netware
server-based local area network and outside phone lines.
Configure driver software and specify cabling for PCs and
peripheral devices. Recommend vendors and products for purchase
requisition.
Develop and administer address databases in ArcList, Paradox,
Access and Excel. Provide file conversion support and printing
services for automated manifest systems and basic production
jobs.
Must be able to demonstrate expert proficiency in DOS and
Windows applications. Experience in network databases and
asynchronous communications is a must. This position requires a
high degree of organization, attention-to-detail and
responsiveness to customer requirements.
Superior verbal/written communications and time management
skills are expected. . . self-starter, initiative-taker,
problem-solver. Must interact with all levels of professional
contact.
